More than just gymnastics, training at TGI is a bundle of good things wrapped up in fun!

Gymnastics develops strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.  More than that, it encourages concentration, motivation and promotes self-confidence.

At Toronto Gymnastics International, we are proud of our strong recreational program.  Class sizes are small, with a minimum of 5 gymnasts to a maximum of 8 gymnasts per coach, to ensure each athlete gets the attention they need to develop their individual gymnastics ability with confidence.

We have a fall, winter and spring session, which coincides with the school year.  As part of our spring session, our recreational, intermediate and advanced recreational athletes participate in the annual TGI Gymfest! Gymfest is a celebration of our gymnasts which takes place over three high energy evenings and one day time in late June. Gymfest will feature group routines and award medals for all participants, as well as a few special awards for outstanding athletes and coaches.

Our recreational classes are designed to meet the developmental needs of gymnasts aged 18 months up to adulthood. Please see a list below of the different programs offered here at TGI.

Babies in Motion (6 months – 18 months)

For children ages 6 months to 18 months. Come in for this fun and interactive 45 minute class to help your child develop gross motor skills and develop socially under the guidance of a certified coach.

Parent & Tot (18 months – 3 years)

Our Parent and Tot class introduces younger children to gymnastics in the company of their parent or caregiver.  Direction is provided by a certified coach. Children enjoy activities that promote body awareness, coordination, self-confidence and achievement.  Specific equipment circuits are set up to encourage youngsters to walk, run, jump, roll and balance in a safe environment.  Everyone gets a good workout!

Kindergym (3 -5 years)

Youngsters who can listen and follow instructions are introduced to the gymnastics environment under the supervision of a certified coach.  This program consists of basic movement patterns to develop strength, balance, coordination, independence, and self-confidence.  Children will learn basic gymnastic skills on all gymnastic apparatus’.  We use a level system to emphasize the proper learning progressions.   Smiles are encouraged!

Advanced Kindergym (5 years, level 3)

This developmental program is for boys and girls who demonstrate advanced skill and who have already completed a couple sessions of kindergym.  Children joining this program will be able to follow instructions, work independently and have already mastered the basic skills of gymnastics. Children need to be recommended by their coach and should be 5 years old and in level 3 to join the program.

Girls & Boys Recreational (6-12 years & 9-14 years)

In our Recreational classes, children learn basic to intermediate gymnastic skills and movements on all gymnastic apparatus’.  Girls and boys are coached in separate groups but all athletes will learn new skills throughout the session.  We use a level system to ensure proper learning progressions.  Friendships are made and athletes are encouraged to explore the joy of movement and the fun of gymnastics.

Intermediate Girls (7-13 years)

Our intermediate program is one of the newer programs to TGI. This program is for athletes more advanced than the typical recreational program but are not quite ready yet for advanced recreational. Athletes in this level will work on new skills as well as placing an emphasis on the technique of skills. The intermediate class incorporates a bit more conditioning and stretching as well to build strength and flexibility. At this time we are only offering the intermediate program for girls.

Girls & Boys Advanced Recreational (Girls 7-13 years, Boys 7-14 years)

Teen/Adult (14+ years)

Our Teen and Adult Program is designed to allow adults to participate in a gymnastics program and train on all gymnastic apparatus’.  A conditioning program is developed to meet the specific needs of participants. This program is a little less formal and allows athletes to come in with an idea of what they would like to learn and our certified coaches will give you drills and progressions to help you meet your goals. Athletes coming in with no gymnastics experience will be given the basics and build on from there. A workout of the body, mind and spirit is guaranteed!

Coach In-Training

Our popular CIT program is designed for teens who want to participate in gymnastics training and learn the fundamentals of coaching, while earning community service hours required for graduation from high school.  This program prepares participants to become an assistant coach at TGI, and enables them to register for the National Coaching Certification Program as a Pre-CIT once they turn 15 years old. This program generally runs in the summer time, once in July and once in August. For more information on dates and availability please call or email us.
